Bio:

Thomas Hazvold (a.k.a. Tom Hasvold) was born in the U.K. He grew up in Kansas, Wisconsin, and Iowa. After graduating from University of Colorado, he worked in education and forestry in Minnesota, South America, California, and Oregon.

He picked up bluegrass music at an early age living near University of Kansas, listening to artists such as Grandpa Jones, The Carter Family, and the Dillards. The first song he performed live as a kid was “Uncle Eph’s got the Coon and gone on,” by G. Jones.

In addition to playing the piano, ukulele, and trombone, Thomas has focused mostly on the guitar and bluegrass banjo. He learned the 3-finger picking style during his years as a fire lookout in California.

Having a good memory for lyrics, Thomas has played a wide variety of bluegrass popular / public domain songs, but now he mostly plays his own original music, as it’s a lot more satisfying.
